I usually stay away from controversy, but after watching a video Coco Gauff shared addressing a past situation, one paragraph she spoke truly stood out to me.
She said she wasn’t upset because of disrespect — she was upset because she allowed it to affect her for so long.
In this video, I’m not discussing the controversy itself. Instead, I want to highlight two powerful mental game lessons that apply to every tennis player:
1️⃣ Confidence and the inner critic
2️⃣ The importance of speaking up before silence eats away at you
We all deal with self-doubt, frustration, and negative inner dialogue on the tennis court. Often, that inner critic is far more destructive than anything an opponent could say. Just like Coco explained, the shift happens when we realize we control our response.
