SAM Medical's SAM60 - FASPLINT Quick Tip
Vacuum splinting works best when two providers work together - one to support the injured limb and one to wrap and mold the splint for full stabilization above and below the injury. In this quick tip, Greg Nesler from SAM Medical walks through a critical step when using the FASPLINT that helps maintain suction and ensures proper splint performance.
Before disconnecting the pump hose, always confirm the blue L-shaped valve is fully seated and flush. Keeping the valve snug and sealed before removing the tapered tip prevents air from escaping and allows the splint to stay properly evacuated so you can continue patient care without losing stabilization. Important to note, do not bend the tapered pump tip when disconnecting from the FASPLINT valve.
