A Houthi-backed rival government has been sworn-in in Yemen.
The so-called "National Salvation Government" is formed of members of the rebel group and allies of ousted former president Ali Abdullah Saleh's party.
STORY-LINE:
The Houthi chairman of the Supreme Political Council Saleh al-Samad watches as members of a new government are sworn in at the Presidential Palace in Sanaa.
Abdul Aziz Bin Habtoor takes the oath to lead this alliance of Houthi rebels and members of former president Ali Abdullah Saleh's General People's Congress party.
But while the politicians have styled themselves as the "National Salvation Government", this move is likely to deepen divisions in the Arab world's poorest nation.
Yemen has an internationally-recognised government based in the southern city of Aden.
UN Special Envoy Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed has declared Sanaa's rival government as an obstacle to the peace process, saying it "does not serve the interests of the people of Yemen in these difficult times."
The announcement comes at a time when US-backed, UN-mediated peace efforts have faltered.
