In a damage control exercise, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh clarified his stance after his remarks praising the RSS's organisational skills sparked controversy. Speaking to India Today, Singh asserted that the 'Congress party is united' and condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for attempting to sow discord. He stated, 'We are all one and this family, the Nehru-Gandhi family, is a family in which two people have been martyred.'
