In today’s video: We’re digging into the five “ransom notes” TMZ says it received in the Nancy Guthrie case and asking the question I keep coming back to, are any of these letters even real? Because at this point, the “kidnapper” feels less like a kidnapper and more like… an audience member trying to get screen time.
As of February 22, 2026, the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie out of the Catalina Foothills area is entering week four, and investigators have hit a major forensic hurdle: mixed DNA from the glove found about two miles away and evidence from the home has been difficult to isolate. Genetic genealogy has been mentioned as a possible next step, but that’s not instant gratification, sadly. Meanwhile, the FBI is still focused on the masked individual seen in recovered doorbell footage, and the reward has climbed to $200,000 after an anonymous $100,000 donation.
So today, we’re comparing these “Guthrie letters” to infamous ransom communications from history, like the JonBenét Ramsey note and the Lindbergh kidnapping notes, because if history teaches us anything, it’s this: real kidnappers usually have a plan, and this situation reads like chaos, contradictions, and a whole lot of “why are you emailing TMZ.”
And y’all, I’m going to say it again, because it’s the question that will not leave my spirit: If you truly had Nancy and wanted money, why would you go to TMZ?
