This improvisation happened at 3am, after a rather enthusiastic evening of “social activities.”
For reasons I cannot fully explain, Ravel — and especially Gaspard de la nuit — was firmly on my mind.
The result?
Something loosely inspired by Ravel’s Spanish colors, a slightly unhinged late-night atmosphere… and somehow a few unexpected Star Wars sports sneaking in as well. (I blame fatigue. Or the Force.)
Nothing was written. Nothing was planned.
This is what happens when impressionistic harmony meets questionable timing and a brain that should probably be asleep.
Is it refined? No.
Is it responsible? Also no.
But it was honest, spontaneous, and strangely entertaining to play.
