Winter moves differently in the badlands. Especially when you're alone.
Join me for a quiet winter walk through wind, mud, and stillness.
This walk through Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park isn’t just about distance or destinations. Here is home to one of the most significant and extensive rock art sites in North America. I walk across turbulent terrain, awe at the ever-changing landscape, and stop at the Battle Scene petroglyph which was carved in the 1800s.This is a place of deep cultural and spiritual significance to the Blackfoot Confederacy.
Boots slip. The walk slows, and attention sharpens. Out here, progress isn’t measured by how far you go, but by how present you’re willing to be... especially when the land pushes back.
Wind threads through the hoodoos. The Milk River moves steadily below. Time stretches. A brief human moment passes at the edge of the frame.
Filmed as part of Lunar Overland, this episode continues a series focused on thoughtful travel, exploration, and moving through wild places and trying to understand them.
Sometimes the quietest roads teach the loudest lessons.
