Описание: India is pursuing an ambitious plan to expand its naval fleet to 200 warships by 2035 as China rapidly enlarges its maritime capabilities and Pakistan strengthens its submarine force with Chinese-built platforms. The induction of indigenous warships INS Mahendragiri and INS Malvan reflects New Delhi's growing focus on self-reliant naval construction under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

The Indian Navy currently operates more than 140 vessels, with another 50 under construction. Defence experts say new warships are entering service at an accelerated pace, while projects including INS Vindhyagiri and the next-generation Project-17 Bravo frigates are expected to further strengthen the fleet. India has also set a long-term objective of achieving complete self-reliance in naval shipbuilding by 2047 through indigenous manufacturing and international technology partnerships, including cooperation with Japan.
