Quite simple really. Rather than screwing together the Bird Boxes that I’m planning to make I thought I would try just using a water resistant or water proof wood glue instead. Obviously I wanted to use a waterproof glue as the finished Bird boxes will need to be outside in the elements.

Having looked at a few different ones on the screwfix site I thought I would try using an EVO-STIK product. I checked on EVO-STIK’s website and chose to try the Polyurethane Wood Adhesive based on the fact they say it can be used in wet conditions, even underwater!!
You have to apply it via a silicone type gun.
The glue itself has a funny consistency, and a fairly potent smell but applies easily.

WARNING: As I found out, if you get the glue in your skin it doesn’t come off, leaving a black patch. You should wear the gloves provided or suitable hand protection.

Anyway, I made the bird box by fixing it together just using the EVO-STIK glue. Left the box overnight to properly dry before submerging it fully in a bucket of cold water for 3 hours.
I took the bird box out of the water and dropped it on the floor to see if it still stayed together.
All I can say is that the EVO-STIK glue held together no problem.
Great product that does what it says.
