Flipping Through a 1904 Stern's Catalogue | Edwardian Fashion

Описание: Hey everyone! Today I'm going to be looking at a catalog from 1904. The catalog was made by Stern Brothers, commonly known today as Stern's, a department store that went out of business in 2001. They were established in 1867, so by 1904 they were a prominent department store, marketing towards more affluent people. The catalog contains things like women's, men's, and children's fashion, shoes, and undergarments, sewing notions, curtains, household items, fabric, bathing suits, handkerchiefs, and many more (seemingly random) items.

The inflation (for USD) works out quite evenly such that you can multiply the original price by about 30 to get the modern equivalent.
Take these conversions with a grain of salt, there's no exact way to calculate the value of money over time. Without getting too into a topic I probably don't have the credibility to talk about, other factors like what's being bought and if its production has changed over time also play large factors in money conversion.
