For this walk we parked in the lay-by just outside Grasmere on the A591 arriving at about 9.15am. The walk was just over 12km long and we did it at a leisurely pace which took us just over 4.5 hours plus stops. The highest peak was Great Rigg at 766m. Views today were stunning as it was a clear, crisp, cold day. Large sections of the path were covered in ice but it was usually easy to avoid the worst of it.
Louise and I walked with our two teenage children (aged 15 and 18), Dan and Nicole.
