The Story Behind the Song:
The original inspiration for this track came directly from the legendary Buddy Holly, which you can really hear in the chord structures, along with a little bit of a Bob Luman influence. Buddy Holly's songs were actually the very first ones I ever learned to sing and play on my guitar!

I wanted to write one of those simple but heartfelt, mid-tempo songs that Buddy was so incredibly good at—tracks like "You're The One" and "Maybe Baby."

The Musical Journey:
When I first wrote this, I brought it to my regular collaborator at the time, Greg Watkins. Greg suggested changing up the chord sequence in the bridge section, which really brought the track together. Shortly after making our original demo, we recorded a full-blown version of the song that was officially released on my 1989 album, "Beggars Can Be Choosy." This brand-new version, produced using Suno AI, sticks fairly close to that original 1989 recording. It has a slightly more modern sound and a bit more of a country influence now, but make no mistake—at its core, it is still a true 50s-style rocker!
