15 Women WHO SHAPED New Wave & Synth-Pop (1980–83)

Описание: Between 1980 and 1983, British music entered one of its most interesting transitions. Synthesisers moved to the front, image became part of the sound, and new wave evolved into synth-pop and the New Romantic movement.

The story of this period is often told through its male figures. But a group of women were just as important in shaping how those years actually sounded and felt.

In this documentary, I take a look at 15 essential women who helped define that era. From front women to key vocal contributors, each played a role in shaping the sound, identity and atmosphere of the early 1980s.

This is a personal selection based on the period and my own perspective. Many more women contributed to this scene, but these fifteen represent some of the voices and personalities that helped define those years.
