अखंड विश्लेषण: आज हम उस ऐतिहासिक साजिश की बात कर रहे हैं, जो अगर सफल हो जाती, तो आज असम भारत का हिस्सा नहीं बल्कि बांग्लादेश का हिस्सा होता। 1946 में ब्रिटिश सरकार द्वारा भेजे गए Cabinet Mission का उद्देश्य सिर्फ सत्ता हस्तांतरण नहीं था, बल्कि भारत को इस तरह बाँटना था कि वह भविष्य में कभी एक मज़बूत राष्ट्र न बन सके। इसी योजना के अंतर्गत यह प्रस्ताव रखा गया कि Assam को मुस्लिम-बहुल East Pakistan के साथ जोड़ दिया जाए। लेकिन उस समय असम के मुख्यमंत्री गोपी नाथ बोरदोलोई ने न सिर्फ इस प्रस्ताव का विरोध किया, बल्कि अपनी ही पार्टी और केंद्रीय नेतृत्व के खिलाफ जाकर असम को भारत में बनाए रखा।

One of the most shocking proposals was to merge Assam with Muslim-majority East Pakistan. This move would have permanently altered Assam’s geography, identity, culture, and demography.
