Egypt’s Al-Rad channel, which cited a source in Hamas claiming that a ceasefire will begin in exchange for the release of captives. The Hostages and Missing Families forum says there’s “significant progress”.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says his three objectives are — the destruction of Hamas, release of hostages and ensuring the Gaza strip doesn’t become a threat to Israel again.

In another major geopolitical development, Iran claims to be the newest entrant into a very exclusive club of nations with hypersonic weapons. Russia and China are the only two countries who have fielded hypersonic missiles - Russia is the only one to have used them in combat— countries like the US and India are still researching these weapons. Meanwhile, the Hezbollah have claimed shooting down Hermes 450 UAV, the ‘Backbone’ Of Israel’s Military Drone Fleet with SAM.


HOUTHI RED SEA SHIP CAPTURE
The Red Sea is one of the world’s busiest waterways, over 20,000 ships transit through these waters each year…at a rate of 70 ships per day. It's particularly important for India because the bulk of its trade with West Asia and Europe passes through the Red Sea. In a significant event an India-Bound Ship was Hijacked by Yemen's Houthi Rebels in the Red Sea. To understand the gravity of this hijacking, Kiran Tare, from News9 Plus, interviewed Captain Sanjay Parashar on latest developments.

Deepfakes can be used to damage reputation, fabricate evidence, defraud the public, and undermine trust in democratic institutions.
All this can be achieved with fewer resources, with scale and speed, and even micro-targeted to galvanise support.
Deepfakes are where artificial intelligence tools are used to manipulate and create images which are entirely untrue. They can be used to create falsehoods. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has flagged his concern over the proliferation of deepfakes. Joining The News9 Plus Show, cybersecurity expert KANISHK GAUR explains while Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Generated Synthetic media or Deepfakes have clear benefits in certain areas such as accessibility, education, film production, criminal forensics, and artistic expression there is a grave risk of exploitation that needs to be negated.
Kanishk further explains how Deepfakes can be used by non-state actors, such as insurgent groups and terrorist organisations, to show their adversaries as making inflammatory speeches or engaging in provocative actions to stir anti-state sentiments among people and hence, the urgent need to devise a global safety mechanism to prevent any wrongdoing.

He also talks about easy-to-use and accessible technology solutions to detect deepfakes, authenticate media, and amplify authoritative sources, and why we need stricter implementation of the existing rules to regulate use of this cutting-edge futuristic technology?
