EX STAZIONE DI FORNELLO
La stazione ferroviaria di Fornello, nel comune di Vicchio, è stata caratterizzata, fino all’inizio del XX secolo dall’attività estrattiva della pietra, utilizzata per lo più per la realizzazione delle massicciate ferroviarie. Il trasporto del materiale lapideo era consentito grazie al tratto mugellese della Ferrovia Faentina, costruita alla fine dell’Ottocento; la stazione di riferimento era quella di Fornello, costituita da due edifici nei quali si trovavano, oltre ai normali locali adibiti al trasporto merci e al servizio viaggiatori, anche gli alloggi dei ferrovieri. La stazione, negli anni punto di riferimento anche per le case e le fattorie circostanti, fu chiusa nel 1967, rimanendo abbandonata e cadendo nel degrado.

FORNELLO RAILWAY STATION
The Fornello railway station, in the municipality of Vicchio, was characterized, until the beginning of the twentieth century by the mining of stone, used mostly for the construction of railway embankments. The transport of stone material was allowed thanks to the Mugello section of the Faentina Railway, built at the end of the nineteenth century; the reference station was that of Fornello, consisting of two buildings in which, in addition to the normal premises used for freight transport and passenger service, also the accommodation of the railway workers. The station, over the years a point of reference also for the surrounding houses and farms, was closed in 1967, remaining abandoned and falling into decay.
