Chateaulin + Dol-De-Bretagne Stations (France SNCF) on 28th April 1998
Gare d' Chateaulin and Gare de Dol-de-Bretagne
To the north of Quimper, in rural Brittany lies the peaceful town of Chateaulin. Here I saw a lonely class Y7400 and a couple of local services on the connecting windy line between Quimper and the main line to Brest/Morlaix in the hands of Class X2100's. Moving further East that day and in the area of Saint Malo , I stopped off at Dol-de-Bretagne. Here I witnessed a good frequent service of trains coming to/from the Rennes line to Saint Malo hauled by SNCF Diesel class 67300's with the Locomotive at one end. A local train with an X2100 serving a connection to Dinan and smaller towns along the route. The only example of a SNCF Class 4900 I ever captured on film was also deputising on a local service. The pace of life seemed a lot more relaxed here and on the whole throughout the region.
