The Iranian drone carrier IRIS Shahid Bagheri Shahid Bagheri has reportedly been taken out of the fight after a strike announced by United States Central Command U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
The vessel belonged to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and was one of Iran’s most unusual naval projects — a commercial container ship converted into a floating drone base capable of launching UAVs and helicopters far from Iran’s coastline.
According to U.S. officials, the ship was struck during the opening phase of Operation Epic Fury, a campaign targeting key Iranian naval assets across the region.
Originally commissioned in 2025, the Shahid Bagheri was designed to extend Iran’s reach at sea by deploying surveillance drones, strike UAVs, and reconnaissance aircraft from a mobile maritime platform.
Military analysts say the loss of the vessel could significantly impact Iran’s ability to operate drones far from its shores and coordinate maritime surveillance across strategic waterways.
In this video we analyze:
🔹 What made the Shahid Bagheri a unique drone carrier
🔹 How the strike reportedly happened
🔹 What this means for naval drone warfare in the region
The removal of such a platform shows how modern conflicts increasingly target command ships, drone bases, and naval logistics — not just traditional warships.
