In this tutorial video, we will learn how to create a simple filled map using data visualization tools. Filled maps are a great way to convey information in a visually appealing manner. We will use a dataset containing information about states and sales to create our map.

First, we will select the "state" and "sales" fields and drag them into the appropriate locations on our map tool. The map will automatically fill in the states according to the sales data, with different colors representing different levels of profit. However, if you're planning to present this map, it might be more effective to remove the profit legend.

Instead, we can drag the "region" field into the legend, giving each region a distinct color. This helps differentiate the states within each region. By hovering over a state, you can see its name and the corresponding region.

If you prefer, you can also include the profit data in a tooltip. By dragging the "profit" field into the tooltip section, you can see the profit details for each state when you hover over it on the map.
