This week Tony and I go over another intensity technique Kaatsu Training.
Kaatsu training was first invented in Japan in 1966 by Dr Yoshiaki Sato. Dr Sato realised modified blood circulation in the limbs build muscle through a biochemical reaction in the brain.
The name Kaatsu is a Japanese word and broken down KA (加) means “additional” and ATSU (圧) means “pressure”.
Kaatsu reduces veinous blood flow leaving blood to pool in the target limbs longer, but still allows arterial blood into the limb.
Pick a weight 30-40% of your 1RM (1 rep max) and complete sets of 10-12.
Keep the target limb strapped up for a maximum of 10 minutes then release to allow blood to fully circulate and replenish.
