Loving Father, I admit that waiting is hard for me. It feels like an endless night where the stars have dimmed and the moon has hidden its face.
My heart cries out in sorrow because it wants what it cannot yet see, it wants what it cannot yet touch, it wants what it cannot yet hold.
Tears fall freely, soaking the soil of my spirit.
Why must it hurt so much, Father?
Why does my heart break with every passing moment that my prayers go unanswered?
I’m angry, Father—angry at myself for not trusting You as I should.
Angry that I keep letting my impatience steal my peace.
I know You are faithful. I know You always fulfil your promises.
But why do I let the enemy plant seeds of doubt in my heart?
Why do I let worry consume me when I know You are in control?
Please, Father, please make me stronger.
Teach me to wait with faith instead of frustration, with hope instead of despair.
Strengthen my weary heart and give me the patience to trust in Your unseen work. To believe that You are shaping something beautiful in the waiting.
I lay my longing at Your feet, Lord.
I don’t know how to hold on, but I know You are my only hope. So even through the tears, even through the brokenness, I will trust You.
Help me to use this time of waiting to draw closer to You, to deepen my faith, and to learn the lessons You are trying to teach me.
