What is interoperability, and how does federation help governments and public-sector organisations building sovereign and secure communication?
🎤 At #MatrixConf2025, we asked Mathieu Velten (DIMUN), Marie Ruddeck (Gematik), Patrick Weber (Ministry for Digitalisation, Luxembourg), Christina Klass (BundesMessenger), Patrice Brend’amour (CompuGroup Medical), Alexander Smolianitski (ZenDiS), and Neil Johnson & Patrick Albert from Element.
They agree: Matrix, as an open standard for real-time communication, is ideal for governments and the public sector. It enables federation - allowing multiple home servers to connect securely - so that different departments can communicate as easily as email while keeping full control of their data and ensuring digital sovereignty.
