This is a dish that satisfies everyone! It has simple ingredients, but the flavor is fantastic! Served over braised cabbage is the classic dish & the way I like it best. You can put it on your favorite carb–rice, potatoes, pasta, spaghetti squash, etc. It’s good all the way around. It’s hearty and filling.
The dish is dairy free and gluten free with a simple flour swap. It freezes very well so great for double duty.

Dutch Beef
Serves 6
Ingredients
• ½ lb onion, sliced in rings
• 2 T lard
• 1 ½ lbs stew meat
• 2 T flour
• 1 tsp salt
• ½ tsp pepper
• 2 T lard
• 1 c stock (chicken or beef)
• 1 T ACV
• 2 tsps favorite seasoning
Instructions
Preheat oven to 325.
Heat lard in Dutch oven.
Sautee onions on medium heat until soft, set aside.
Cut meat into bite sized cubes.
Mix flour, salt & pepper. Toss meat in flour.
Heat lard in Dutch oven, sear meat on medium high heat in batches. Don’t crowd, set aside.
Add stock, ACV & seasoning to Dutch oven to deglaze the pan.
Turn off heat. Add meat to Dutch oven. Top onions.
Cover tightly with foil
Bake 1-1.5 hours.
PREP AHEAD STEPS:
Thaw stew meat. Label – Dutch 1
Slice onion. Label - Dutch 2 **Can saute ahead & really save time!
Mix stock, ACV & seasoning. Label – Dutch 3
