The Democratic Republic of Congo is reviewing its $6 billion "infrastructure-for-minerals'' deal with Chinese investors. President Felix Tshisekedi said in May that some mining contracts would be reviewed because of concerns that they are not sufficiently benefiting Congo, the world’s largest producer of cobalt and Africa’s leading copper producer. Tshisekedi announced this month that government would reassess all foreign mining contracts, mostly with Chinese companies, to evaluate whether the deals struck during his predecessor's tenure were equitable.
