Week 9 Tuesday: Diving Deep into Isolation in the #StrengthPhase!
Today’s #LongevityTraining session in the #FieldHouse was a departure from the heavy bilateral lifts, focusing instead on unilateral strength and high-intensity isolation work.
🏋️♂️ The Strength Breakdown:
While isolation days can be taxing in a different way, the level of focus required for balance and stability is immense:
• Main Lift (4x6):
○ Pistol Squats — These are still a work in progress for me. I utilize the rack for balance, which meant staying at body weight to ensure proper form and depth.
• Supporting Auxiliaries (3x10):
○ Dumbbell Bulgarian Split Squats: This was the highlight of the workout. They provided an incredibly intense stimulus that left me winded after every single set. (See the thumbnail for the last set!)
○ Single Leg Calf Raises
○ Leg Curls (Single Leg)
○ Leg Extensions (Single Leg)
💪 Longevity & Intent:
Training one leg at a time is essential for identifying and correcting imbalances, which is a key part of how we #MeetAgeWithGrace. Even performing pistol squats at body weight, the metabolic demand and muscular engagement today were top-tier.
