“The prime minister was one of the very few politicians who spoke openly about how bad our economic situation really is,” said Cristina Cileacu, Senior Correspondent at Digi24 TV, in an interview on World Talks.

In her analysis of the current situation, she emphasized that Romanians are strongly feeling the impact of the economic reforms introduced to reduce the budget deficit. At the same time, however, a large part of society accepts these measures as necessary.

Behind these internal political power struggles lies a battle over European Union funds – as much as €10 billion earmarked for Romania. To secure this funding, the country needs one thing it currently lacks: political stability.
