Morong Falls - Wild Swimming - Kanangra Boyd National Park - 4K

Описание: Morong Falls are a big set of falls located out in the Kanangra Boyd National Park, reasonably close to the main campground at Kanangra Walls. They have many falls and cascades that tumble down into the valley below.

They do not appear to get many visitors compared to the Walls area of the park, which is a pity, they are a pretty easy and short walk to get to.

Access is off Morong Falls Fire trail, which can be locked, so best to check the National Parks website for any closures. A 2WD will easily get you to the locked gate where there is a bit of parking, then there is around a 3km easy walk to the end of the fire trail and down to the falls themselves.

There is around 2.5kms of undulating fire trail, then once you reach the end of the fire trail, a track heads down the hill on the right. The day we were there, there were so many pink flagging tapes tied to everything, not required, the track is easy enough to follow without these.

The track will bring you down to the main part of the falls and the huge wild swimming hole. From here you can see the upper cascades and a steep scramble over slick rock will give you a view of the first of the lower falls and cascades.

It was blowing a gale the day we were here, not exactly perfect winter walking weather and at one point, it looked like we were going to cop a storm, but it did not eventuate.

Keep in mind, this granite is very slippery when wet and there are some really long drops around here, so be careful when walking and scrambling around.

We saw no rubbish here, please take all your rubbish out with you and leave this place pristine.
