What If...? – Columbia / Sony Animation / Gary Sanchez / Mosaic (Adam McKay's Manimal)

Описание: In the fall of 2012, it was announced that Sony's Columbia Pictures had acquired the rights to develop a feature film adaptation of Battlestar Galactica creator Glen A. Larson's short-lived 1980's superhero television series Manimal, about a shape-shifting man named Jonathan Chase who helps the police solve crimes by way of changing himself into any animal he chooses. The film was intended to be a live-action/CGI-hybrid co-produced by Sony Pictures Animation, with much more of a broad comedic tone. Two years later came reports that the film would be produced by Anchorman and Talladega Nights duo Will Ferrell and Adam McKay — alongside production partners Chris Henchy and Kevin Messick — through their Gary Sanchez Productions shingle. Joining them as producers would be Jimmy Miller of Mosaic, along with Larson. Jay Martel and Ian Roberts were hired to write the screenplay, having previously worked with Ferrell and McKay on the Etan Cohen-helmed prison comedy Get Hard for Warner Bros. Pictures. Presumably, Ferrell would also star as Chase while McKay would potentially direct, in which case no doubt many of McKay's frequent collaborators would've also joined in, including casting director Allison Jones, music supervisor Erica Weis, costume designer Debra McGuire, film editors Brent White and Melissa Bretherton, production designer Clayton Hartley, cinematographer Oliver Wood, and executive producers David Householter and Jessica Elbaum. However, in the fall of 2014, Larson tragically passed away from esophageal cancer, and no further news would ever come of the project. Follow me and ponder the question, "What if...?"
