Are your primers showing drag marks instead of round indents? If YES, watch on, this MIGHT be your solution...
UPDATE: Sadly, replacing the dampening spring actually didn't do a whole lot to mitigate my XD's primer drag:/ After more internet diving it appears most "locking breech" style handguns feature primer drag one way or another... Will try swapping out that extra power striker spring with a brand new STOCK striker spring and update below with any useful findings...
UPDATE 2: I was able to shoot with an extra power striker spring and an OEM striker spring in the same range session with my XD and had similar results. Some shells had slight drag, some none at all which now confirms firing pin dampening spring is NOT a cure all for primer drag BUT you should probably still consider replacing it every time you replace the striker spring just to be on the safe side.
