There were two things holding me back from working on this piece before in an orchestral setting: one is that this is a piece I've known and played for a long time, so I felt like it would be difficult to distance myself from the piano original and how I conceptualized it. Second, Chopin's works seem so unapproachable from an orchestration perspective because of their pianistic features that I felt like any attempt to orchestrate this (or any other piece by Chopin) would be a disservice to the original music. However, I finally got the courage to take the leap.
I think the hardest part of orchestrating this work was transfering the very pianistic repeated chord of the finale into a more fluid orchestral context. Same goes for the very pianistic octave figures in the B section. I still think those sections could be improved, but for now I can't think of any other orchestration solutions.
