So it's been a while since we had some good old fashioned brown crab, so time for a simple catch and cook taste test between a cornish brown crab and a cornish king (spider) crab. So far we've just found babies in the rockpools or in crevices under the surf line, but we were fortunate enough to be diving and find this snack size morsel at the base of some cliffs south of Maenporth, near Falmouth. Back into the canoe, and home to get the water boiling.
How better to finish a day (we say finish, we mean prepare for an evening at the pub!) than sitting on the sea wall in Falmouth, boiling up some fresh crab legs and soaking up some sun. Sometimes the saying could not be more true, less is more. As a chef I could have concocted some fancy sauce or such, but sometimes all you need is great company and nothing else to get the most from the experience.
