Uganda today joined the rest of the globe in commemorating International Human Rights Day, amid calls for security agencies and the Electoral Commission to take charge and restore peaceful campaigns ahead of the 2026 polls. The day, marked under the theme “Play Your Role in Strengthening Uganda’s Democratic Space,” comes days after two people were reported dead and over 450 others arrested during the presidential campaign trail of the opposition National Unity Platform Party.
