Pune Police Crack Down on Modified Bullet Silencers

Описание: Kalepadal police have registered a case, detained 13 riders and their associates, and seized 11 two-wheelers after a group allegedly created panic by riding motorcycles fitted with modified “cracker” silencers in Undri and Mohammadwadi.

Police said the team carried out the operation successfully after examining technical evidence and gathering information from confidential sources.

According to a Pune City Police press note, the incidents occurred between 11 p.m. on July 31 and 5 a.m. on August 1 near Kad Nagar Chowk, Nyati Chowk, Raheja Vista Chowk and surrounding roads.

The modified exhausts allegedly produced loud, firecracker-like sounds, while some of the riders drove dangerously. Videos of the activity were subsequently circulated on social media.

Residents contacted the police after the late-night noise created fear in the neighbourhood and disturbed elderly people and children, some of whom woke suddenly from sleep, the press note said.

Following the complaints, a Kalepadal police team analysed technical evidence and gathered information through confidential sources to identify those involved. Police detained 13 riders and associates and seized 10 Bullet motorcycles and a Burgman scooter. One of the motorcycles allegedly did not have a registration plate.
