“Yakshagana Icon Chittani’s Speech | Keremane Award 2013”
In 2014, Chittani Ramachandra Hegde, the legendary Badagutittu Yakshagana artist, was conferred with the Keremane Shivarama Hegde Award.
The award is instituted in memory of Keremane Shivarama Hegde, another towering figure in Yakshagana and the founder of the Idagunji Mahaganapati Yakshagana Mandali.
It is given annually to recognize exceptional contributions to Yakshagana art and culture.
The 2014 conferment on Chittani was a symbolic honor — a recognition by one great Yakshagana family of another icon who carried forward the tradition with unmatched vigor and artistry.
This was one of the many prestigious honors Chittani received alongside the Padma Shri (2012), making him a truly celebrated figure in the Yakshagana world.
