Led by the Agency for Cultural Affairs and the Japan Arts Council, the Japan Cultural Expo transmits “Beauty of Japan” carried over from the Jomon Period, within various fields under the common theme of “ Humanity and Nature in Japan”. We are striving for future creations by conveying it to the next generation both home and abroad. This video shows mainly the projects the Japan Cultural Expo took part within Japan in 2020.
For over 10,000 years from the Jomon Period, Japanese people have respected the diversity of nature, and expressed the mind which reveres the belief that life dwells in all living things. This is based on the aesthetic consciousness of having appreciation for landscapes, climate, Jomon pottery, sculptures like Buddha statues, paintings such as ukiyo-e and folding screens, crafts like lacquerware, dyeing and weaving of kimonos, traditional performance arts like Noh and Kabuki, literature, modern lifestyles including manga and anime, as well as clothing, food and housing, while embodying the mind which resonates and sympathizes with nature.
We will continue to develop various programs in the year 2021 as well. Please experience the diverse “Beauty of Japan” through the Japan Cultural Expo!

Art Moves Us All.
Our hearts yearned for connection and expression in the time of seclusion.
Art transcended our physical boundaries, and it moved us to see a world of unlimited possibilities - a world apart, together in art.
