In this video I am demonstrating the Tama PMM146STM Starphonic Maple snare. A beautiful snare drum that has an equally beautiful sound. Tama used top of the line components alongside a drum shell with perfect back-cut bearing edges and a sweet looking veneer - what they came up with is a drum that is very versatile and highly playable.
The shell is 7-ply, 6" x 14", and 6mm thick. The inner six plies are 100-percent maple and outer veneer ply is made from Mappa Burl. The veneer with its matte lacquer finish coupled with the shiny chrome hardware makes for one gorgeous snare drum.
The drum also has great hardware features like the one of a kind Grooved Hoops and Freedom lugs which make it super easy to change a drum head. The tension rods do not have to be taken completely out of the lug to get the hoop to come off. You just have to loosen the tension screw enough to have it come off of the grooved hoop and you're good to go. In no time at all you will have your new head on the drum. The ratchet style throw off is very smooth and the removable butt plate is yet another great feature making it easier for you the drummer to keep making music rather then spending a lot of time when a head needs to be changed.
Tame has made a great snare drum with a distinctive look and a really great sound. Thanks for watching!
