Retro Orlando - 1993 The Mercado TV Commercial.
A rare commercial for "The Mercado Mediterranean Village". This was an outdoor mall located in Kissimmee St. Cloud that housed a lot of popular shops and restaurants, and even included the offices for the Kissimmee St. Cloud Visitor's Bureau, the main group that brought in all the tourism to the Orlando area. I remember really loving this place; nice relaxed setting, good selection of stores. Anyone remember "The Butcher Shop" steak house? The Titanic exhibit was also here for a while too.
However in the 2000's, rent increased and businesses jumped ship. After the crash of 2008 and the recession, the mall became nearly abandoned, and was eventually demolished. I know it was just a mall, but it really felt like a good place for anyone starting their vacation when visiting Orlando. For me personally, other than Universal Studios Florida of the 1990's, it's really my most missed attraction.
