A: 哎，累死我了。
Ai, lèi sǐ wǒ le.
Wow… I am so tired.

B: 是啊，花了我们差不多一个小时。
Shì a, huā le wǒ men chà bù duō yī gè xiǎo shí.
Yes, it took us almost 1 hour.

A: 一个小时？不是一个小时！是一个半小时。
Yī gè xiǎo shí? Bù shì yī gè xiǎo shí! Shì yī gè bàn xiǎo shí.
One hour? Not one hour! It took us 1 and a half hours.

我们下午4点到的超市，5点35分才离开。
Wǒ men xià wǔ sì diǎn dào de chāo shì, wǔ diǎn sān shí wǔ fēn cái lí kāi.
We arrived at the supermarket at 4pm and left at 5:35pm.

都已经超过一个半小时了。
Dōu yǐ jīng chāo guò yī gè bàn xiǎo shí le.
That is even more than one and a half.

B: 对，你说的对。怪不得我好累。而且我们还没开始煮饭呢。
Duì, nǐ shuō de duì. Guài bù dé wǒ hǎo lèi. Ér qiě wǒ men hái méi kāi shǐ zhǔ fàn ne.
Yes, you’re right. That is why I'm so tired. And we haven't even started cooking.

A: 那我们现在就开始吧。还有很多要做呢。
Nà wǒ men xiàn zài jiù kāi shǐ ba. Hái yǒu hěn duō yào zuò ne.
Then let’s start right away! There is a lot to do.

我们快点先把所有东西放在橱柜里。
Wǒ men kuài diǎn xiān bǎ suǒ yǒu dōng xi fàng zài chú guì lǐ.
Let’s quickly put all the things into the cabinets.

B: 好的！

B: 所以，我们现在烧什么？

So, what are we cooking now?

A: 我们做地三鲜吧，你喜欢吃吗？
Wǒ men zuò dì sān xiān ba, nǐ xǐ huān chī ma?
Let’s make Di San Xian, do you like that?

B: 我喜欢。在我和我弟弟小时候，我妈妈经常给我们烧这个菜。
Wǒ xǐ huān. Zài wǒ hé wǒ dì di xiǎo shí hou, wǒ mā ma jīng cháng gěi wǒ men shāo zhè ge cài.
Yes, I do. My mother always cooked that for me and my younger brother when we were kids.

A: 我妈妈也是。我那时候可喜欢了。
Wǒ mā ma yě shì. Wǒ nà shí hou kě xǐ huān le.
My mother did the same for me. I loved it back then.

B: 可是我完全不知道怎么烧这个菜啊。我不会做菜。
Kě shì wǒ wán quán bù zhī dào zěn me shāo zhè ge cài a. wǒ bù huì zuò cài.
But I have no idea how to make it. I can’t cook.

A: 没问题，我有菜谱。
Méi wèn tí, wǒ yǒu cài pǔ.
That’s no problem! We have the recipe right here.

A: 好，我们先要切土豆和茄子。
Hǎo, wǒ men xiān yào qiē tǔ dòu hé qié zi.
Okay, at first we need to cut the potatoes and the eggplants.

B: 要切多大？
Yào qiē duō dà?
How big?

A: 像这样。你就照着这个切。我同时切青椒。
Xiàng zhè yàng. Nǐ jiù zhào zhe zhè gè qiē. Wǒ tóng shí qiē qīng jiāo.
Just like this. You can continue with that. I will cut the green peppers at the same time..

A: 好了，你找得到蒜头和姜吗？
Hǎo le, nǐ zhǎo de dào suàn tóu hé jiāng ma?
Okay, can you find the garlic and the ginger?

B: 嗯，这里！
En, zhè lǐ!
Yes here!

A: 嗯还有葱。
En hái yǒu cōng.
Oh and also the green onions.

A: 我现在开始调酱。能不能给我酱油？
Wǒ xiàn zài kāi shǐ tiáo jiàng. Néng bù néng gěi wǒ jiàng yóu? Rán hòu wǒ yào yán, yī gè dà sháo zi.
Now I’m gonna make the special sauce. Could you give me the soy sauce?

然后我要盐，一个大勺子。
Rán hòu wǒ yào yán, yī gè dà sháo zi.
And now I need salt and a big spoon.

B: 给。
Gěi.
Here you go.

A: 行了。现在可以烧了。
Xíng le. Xiàn zài kě yǐ shāo le.
Okay, all done. Now we can cook.

A: 看起来不错！
Kàn qǐ lái bù cuò!
It looks very good!

B: 是啊，吃吃看吧。我都饿了。
Shì a, chī chī kàn ba. Wǒ dōu è le.
Yes it does. Let’s have a bite. I’m already so hungry.

B: 嗯，我也不知道怎么了，这和我妈妈做的味道有点不一样。
En, wǒ yě bù zhī dào zěn me le, zhè hé wǒ mā ma zuò de wèi dào yǒu diǎn
bù yī yàng.
I don’t know why but when my mom made it, it always tasted different.

有点太咸了。
It’s kind of salty.
Yǒu diǎn tài xián le.

A: 是啊，我也觉得。
Shì a, wǒ yě jué de.
yeah, I agree.

B: 天呐，真的好咸，不想吃了。。。
Tiān na, zhēn de hǎo xián, bù xiǎng chī le...
Oh my god, it’s so salty and I can’t....

A: 我想我们一定是哪里出错了。
Wǒ xiǎng wǒ men yī dìng shì nǎ lǐ chū cuò le.
I think we made a mistake somehow. Something is not right.

B: 把你电脑拿来，给我看看菜谱。
Bǎ nǐ diàn nǎo ná lái, gěi wǒ kàn kan cài pǔ.
Get your laptop, show me the recipe.

A: 你看，我们做的都对的呀，三勺盐。
Nǐ kàn, wǒ men zuò de dōu duì de ya, sān sháo yán.
See, we did everything right, three spoons of salt.

B: 这里写了三勺糖！！！！不是盐！
Zhè lǐ xiě le sān sháo táng! Bù shì yán!
It says three spoons of sugar!!!! NOT SALT!

A: 啊？但图片上写的盐，不是吗？
Á? Dàn tú piàn shàng xiě de yán, bù shì ma?
Huuh? But the picture shows salt, doesnt it?

B: 是糖。。。这里也写了糖！！
Shì táng...zhè lǐ yě xiě le táng!!
No it shows sugar….and here it even says sugar!

A: 哦，是我看错了。。。
O, shì wǒ kàn cuò le...
Oh... My mistake.
