This is the song Raindance written by Lee Mavers for the La's. I heard it initially on the Crescent demo tapes (the 97 demos I think...) - then listened to a few covers before taking a stab at it.
The La's are incredible - check them out if you haven't. In session at the BBC is a great starting point for their discography.
