When I onboard a new client, we have a conversation about their business and what they are trying to accomplish. As part of the conversation, I ask two questions. The first is "what do your clients buy?", and the second is "why do your clients buy from you?". Nearly one hundred percent of my conversations end with people acknowledging that they are not really sure what the answer is to either question. They want the answer to be about them, the awesome products they have, and the great service they provide, but they are pretty sure that's not true.
