Deep in the heart of Karachi Sohrab Goth neighborhood, at the bustling Al-Asif Square Karachi, lies an ancient and exciting Pakistani market known as the Al-Asif Bazar. Many warned me it was far too dangerous to even consider visiting. But beyond the warnings, I encountered some of the kindest Pakistani people. Whether it was a local Pakistani Pathan, a Balochi vendor, or an Afghan immigrant, everyone welcomed me with warmth. From toy sellers who helped me spread joy to neighborhood kids, to meat vendors who greeted me like an old friend, this journey was all about genuine human connection.

I even ventured into the so-called “Getto” behind the Al-Asif market, where I was invited by Afghan immigrants to sit, share tea, and listen to their stories. The kindness they showed me is something I’ll never forget.
