A Brisbane court has refused to allow pro-Palestine demonstrators to march over the Story Bridge as part of nationwide protests happening this Sunday.
Queensland police had applied to the Brisbane Magistrates Court to refuse authority for the Justice for Palestine rally to use the major thoroughfare over the Brisbane River, on the grounds of public safety.
Chief Magistrate Janelle Brassington says she was “persuaded to a high degree” the safety risk would be too great, in part due to the Story Bridge's proximity to major hospitals.
