Описание: This is my submission for the Indie Game Music Contest 2025, scored to gameplay footage from RaceJam by Diff Games.
I composed and produced all music in this video as part of the competition challenge. Then created stems and crossfades between different versions of the music, to try to emulate what the final version would look like in the game engine, to show that the music is adaptable to player behaviour.

I have incorperated a main theme when on the main menu, or when a new course is first loading. I also then created a more up beat funk track when choosing your car, trying to fit to the 90's theme. The first race track then has a Satriani inspired rock track, with an uplifting melody and driving guitars. If you drop below 100mph, or end up in last place, then the guitars will drop out, leaving you with just a bass line and drums - hopefully creating a sense of urgency to bring back the melody, and win the race!
When the player wins the race, a variation of the funk rock theme plays, with more bombastic brass, to emulate a fanfare, while still keeping it 90's funk.

On the second course, which is clearly taking it's inspiration from Sonic - I then tried to lean further into a 90's eurobeat/dance music theme, to fit with the sonic speeds. For this course I imagined the game engine also prioritising the condition of the players car, as well as speed and race position. When the player drops below 3rd place, the synths drop out to sadder pianos, and more filtered versions of the main melody. When the players car goes into critical health, a very urgent bass motif plays - and when the player hits a boost to go back into a higher position, the music fully comes back again.

The player finishes race two in 4th place, so a sadder, but still quite determined theme plays, to keep the player wanting to try again.
