“Punk Boyfriend” collects Golden Starlet’s radio sessions and rare comp tracks — pure 90’s punk fire from Middlesbrough

"Golden Starlet were a 90's British punk band from Middlesborough consisting of Ms.C, Janet Planet, Nikki P, Cheryl Can't Stop and Nathan Rockstar.
They were active in the mid 1990's and released one cassette and two 7" singles on Slampt. These recordings were comped on the "Token Gadgy" LP on Paroxysm Records, which also included a blazing cover of "Hot Stuff" by Donna Summer and two other compilation tracks from "Elastic Jet Mission", originally on Slampt. The only other recording not included on "Token Gadgy" was a comp track called "4th Best Babe", that is until now.
Golden Starlet "Punk Boyfriend" collects all of the bands radio sessions and in my mind places them in the top tier of 90's Riot Grrrl associated punk rock. They did it all with a sense of humor and fun that was oft missing from some of their contemporaries.
John Peel gushed over them almost as much as he did The Slits.
Their second single on Slampt, "Corps Of The Hard" made Melody Maker's "Single of the Week".
It's time Golden Starlet got their due, and I think "Punk Boyfriend" helps to solidify that cause"
