We found Anthony scared, abandoned, and alone. She wouldn’t let us near her at first… especially not me. But slowly, so slowly, she started to trust Tractor Dude. She’d let him get a little closer. She’d watch for him from a distance.
And then we found out she was pregnant.
We scrambled to get a space ready, to make it safe, even though she still didn’t want to be touched. We thought we had more time. But we didn’t.
She had Steve before we were ready. We didn’t know what we were doing. Not really. But somehow—somehow—we all figured it out.
Now she’s the gentlest, sweetest girl. She adores Tractor Dude. She’s the best mama to Steve. And every time I look at her now, I think about what she must’ve survived before she got here.
What it means to be a prey animal in a world full of predators.
How fragile goats really are.
How tough she had to be.
How lucky we are that she made it.
She’s earned the softest life we can give her. And I’m gonna make sure she gets it. 💛
