Calamondin or Chinese orange or lemon as commonly called in India is a plant which is grown all over the world. It is a hybrid between Chinese orange and kumquat. It is a hardy plant which can save itself from aphids and insects attack. Its only enemies are caterpillars who love to grow eating its leaves.
In India, it is mostly grown as an ornamental plant but n countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines it is cultivated and used in beverage and food items.
From flower to fruit, it takes 4 month time.
Initially, it takes time to establish but once it gets established, it gives year-long flowering and fruiting.
Its fruits are full of vitamin C. You can take out its juice and store it in a fridge. Its is like lemon juice and and cn be used like that.
It neeed well draining soil and can be easily grown in pots.
Compost and seaweed extract and a micronutrient fertilizer is enough to get lots of fruits from this plant.
