Ranthambore in Rajasthan is the go to place to "see"the Royal Bengal Tiger in the wild, if you are a resident of the National capital region.
Not surprisingly, Ranthambore is part of the Golden Triangle tours in India to which most foreign tourists are attracted to.
Is Ranthambore near Sawai Madhopur only about the tiger?
If we ignore the forest, the forest dwellers and the villages around and continue to exclude them from the financial gains of tourism, how long will the tiger sustain the ever increasing tourist flow?
A long lock down due to Covid 19 has been a wake up call for all our National parks. Tiger populations and prey base would certainly have gone up when left undisturbed.
This is also a time to rethink some of the unbridled growth of hotels and guest houses around our National parks. A time to involve the local population in a more holistic growth of wildlife and forests.
This documentary was produced by IndianWildlifeclub.com in 2005. It was screened by UNEP (United Nations Environment Program) and at the Dhan Film Festival in Madurai.
