Before the Russian occupation,
Crimea was a top destination for food tourism.
People came not only for the sea,
the views, and historic landmarks — but also for the famous Crimean Tatar dishes.
Pilaf.
Cheburek.
Sarma.
Yantyk.
Crimean coffee.
Honey pakhlava.
In 2014, Russia annexed Crimea.
Many Crimean restaurateurs refused to stay under occupation.
They moved to free Ukraine.
And opened Crimean Tatar restaurants
in Kyiv, Lviv,
Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk.
Russia stole Crimea. But not its taste.
