The raids were conducted in Barpeta and Chirang, Assam, and resulted in 10 arrests in Assam and 1 in Tripura. The accused are charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), including attempting to destabilize the region and targeting Hindu organizations and leaders. The operation, dubbed "Operation Praghat," aimed to dismantle a terror module linked to the Global Terrorist Organisation (GTO) and Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), an affiliate of Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent. The arrested individuals, including a Bangladeshi national, were involved in spreading jihadi ideology, creating sleeper cells, and planning violent activities.
