Pioneering dancer, choreographer, filmmaker and writer Yvonne Rainer, in conversation with Rachel Thomas, Senior Curator: Head of Exhibitions, IMMA. The film also features Pat Catterson, an NYC-based dancer, choreographer, educator and custodian of Yvonne Rainer’s early works; and dancers Stav Bar-Nahum Frank, Ty Boomershine, Dimitrios Mytilinaios and Mary Kate Sheehan.
Filmed on the occasion of Yvonne Rainer, Early Work, 1963–1969; live performances of three dance works by Yvonne Rainer – Trio A (1966) Pressured, Talking Solos (from Terrain, 1963), and Chair–Pillow (1969) – in the Great Hall, IMMA, May 2018.
In part two of the film Rachael Gilbourne, Assistant Curator: Exhibitions – Projects & Partnerships, IMMA, introduces Andrea Geyer’s solo exhibition When We. The artist speaks about the exhibition and the influence of Yvonne Rainer’s work on her practice. Filmed on the occasion of the exhibition When We, Courtyard Galleries – East Ground, IMMA, 1 June – 21 October 2018. Admission is free.
